The people of Umudioka-Neni community in Aniocha local government area of Anambra State, has revealed how the late World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion Promoter, Chief Michael Okpala, a.k.a. ‘Power Mike’ rose to global status.
They argue that the Nigeria’s most famous professional wrestler, got the global recognition after he was well coach and equiped through the community’s annual Cultural festival which include majorly native wrestling that has been in existence for the past 47th years.
The community revealed this during their Aka-Dioka 2025 cultural festival with the theme; “Preserving roots building of the future ‘ held at Adaeze Cultural centre Umudioka-Neni community, on Wednesday, December 31st, 2025.

According to them, Power Mike, was also able to attain the height due to his humbleness, dedication and commitment to Africa cultural activities.
“Wrestling is one of the major hubby we are know for since 1979 and this year 2025 is the 47th edition.
Power Mike, became the World Champion through this native wrestling programme in Umudioka-Neni community in Aniocha local government area of Anambra State.
“Today, we are highly proud of him and we have also commenced training for interested youth who will take over from Anthony Joshua by God’s grace, the community announced.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Sir Nduibusi Molukwu, in his remark, commended the state governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo for ensure a conducive environment during the event.
The World Champion was born 8th August, 1939 and died 11th March, 2004 (age 65).
