Andy Uba connives with Ogun Governor to hijack Anambra APC Primaries - Lawyer alleges

Anambra 2021: Andy Uba appoints ex-Police DIG, ex-Bakassi Boys Chairman, others as Campaign Directors

Ahead of November 6, 2021, Anambra State Governorship election, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Andy Uba, on Tuesday, appoints a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Celestine Okoye (retd.) and 26 others as campaign directors.

THE PARADISE gathered that the retired DIG will be in charge of the security unit; before, during and after the election proper.

He also appointed a former chairman of the proscribed Bakassi Boys in Anambra State, Chuma Nzeribe as deputy director.

A former deputy chairman, House of Representatives committee, Afam Ogene, was appointed director of Information of the campaign organisation.

Inaugurating the 27 directorates at his campaign office at Udoka, Awka, the state capital, Uba charged them to be up and running, stressing that there was no time to waste anymore, as the election is 32-days away.

Uba said: “This election is a serious battle. Don’t take anything for granted.

“It’s wrong to think that because we’re the party at the centre (Abuja), we must win the election by all means. That’s wrong.

“We must win this election free and square.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is not that kind of person that will want to rig election for anybody. He is a transparent and upright man.

“So, we must work hard to win this election. I have not slept for so many days because I’m doing my best to ensure APC wins the election. Our telephone lines should be open for 24 hours. We need to be prayerful and hardworking.

“Never take anything for granted. The election must be credible and fair. Votes must count. We’re prepared for this election”, Uba stated.

Speaking also, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, who recently dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for APC, described the November poll as a consequential election in the history of the state.

He said, “We are competing with an incumbent party (APGA) and its governor, Willie Obiano, who is behind Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. I know their strength and weaknesses. We are going to defeat them, all we need is commitment, It will be Tsunami.

“Already 200 serving Councillors in the state will soon join us in APC. I have no doubt in my mind that this project will work. For me to reject a ruling party in the state and be in APC, I want to prove a point to Ndi-Anambra”.

The State Chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike, on his part, appealed to the voters to come out en masse and vote APC, noting that the security challenges ravaging the state were the handiwork of those that did not want Anambra state to belong to the national grid.
