In 2012, Amy Robach joined the ABC morning show. She then took over the post-Good Morning America slot as host. This happened after the series, Pandemic: What You Need to Know, morphed into GMA3: What You Need to Know.
T.J. Holmes entered the scene in 2014. Recruited by ABC News, he quickly became buddies with Robach. Soon after, he was named her co-host.
Robach had a chat with People about this. “You couldn’t have picked a better person to ask me what I thought of,” she said. She revealed that they’d been trying to find a way to work together for a solid five years.
Holmes, she said, was “like my brother.” Holmes echoed this sentiment. “We just can finish each other’s sentences. We get along so well,” he said. He emphasized the importance of trust on set. “I know no matter what I do or say, he’s got my back and vice versa, and that’s everything,” he added.
Robach also let slip a fun fact. She and her husband, Andrew Shue, often went on double dates with Holmes and his wife, Marilee Fiebig.
