People of Amawbia Community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has hailed the Nigeria Police Force on the arrest of one Ozo Jeff Nweke, the Chairman of Blue Shield, a security outfit based in Awka.
It was gathered that Ozo Jeff Nweke, was arrested at Abuja for alleged involvement in land grabbing, harassment, intimidation, raping, cultism and other related social vices in Awka and it environ.
He was also accused for sponsoring some women to protest naked in front of the State Police Command, demanding for the removal of Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State CID, Mr. Akin Fakorede and Inspector Monday Umana.
Addressing journalists shortly after their solidarity protest against Nweke at the State Police Command’s Headquarters Amawbia, on Thursday, the President General of Amawbia Community, Engr. Goddy Aronu, said the solidarity protest is to commend the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun and the State Police Commissioner, Adeoye Aderemi for their efforts in arresting and detaining Ozo Jeff Nweke.

He said the arrest has relieved the people of Amawbia, Nibo, Isuanocha and Enugu-Agidi communities from the activities of Jeff Nweke, whom they also accused of using his security outfit, Blue Shield to chase them out of their farmlands.
“We are happy with his arrest. CP Adeoye Aderemi is doing a very good job for Ndi-Anambra, we salute him.
“The CP has shown uncommon courage in ensuring fairness, equity and justice that one man can not be a problem to others and that is why we are all here at the Command today.
“Jeff Nweke has been suppressing defenceless people of Awka region for a very long time now.
“His adventures of land grabbing must come to an end and it’ is coming to an end.
“We urged the Police authority not to release him until justice is given to all those he offended,” the PG pleaded.
The Regent of the community who is also the Prime Minister of the town (Onowo), Ozo Nnaemeka Maduka, on his part, thanked the Commissioner for standing on the path of truth and for his peace advocacy across the state.
CP Adeoye Aderemi, in his response, said the people of Amawbia and Awka are living in peace under his watch.
According to him, “Nigeria Police Force was established to secure lives and property of every Nigerian irrespective of status, so nobody is above the law. The land you are talking about is your land and any challenge you have bring it to us.
“We will not take side with injustice. No matter the money and power the person think he/she has would not deprive the defenceless of their properties.
“The government, the police will continue to defend the defenceless. So I want you all to remain peaceful for the interest of peace and togetherness.
“Please be calm, investigation is currently ongoing. Thank you all for your concern,” the CP appreciated.
