With the high school volleyball season concluded, it is time to reflect on the season and look back at some standout players and performances by teams that made it memorable.
After Pleasant Valley lost to Foothill in the Northern Section championship in 2022, the Vikings and Cougars matched up once more in the NSCIF championship in 2023 and this season the Vikings came out victorious for their second section championship in three seasons. In state, PV and Chico both had early exits in the first round, with the Vikings losing to Tamalpais and the Panthers falling to East Nicolaus.
In the Panthers’ loss to East Nicolaus the Spartans were led by Sacramento Valley League MVP Jadyn Hoffman, the junior who recorded 39 kills in a five-set tightly fought victory. The Spartans lost in the next round to Marin Academy in just their third loss of the season, finishing 30-3.
West Valley finished with the most wins in the Northern Section, finishing with a final record of 41-7, ahead of PV’s 31-11 record. Glenn County schools Orland, Willows and Hamilton all had successful seasons, with the Trojans finishing 29-7, the Honkers finishing 32-8 and the Braves finishing 29-6.
Below is the list of All-League prep volleyball recipients within the Enterprise-Record’s coverage area of Butte, Glenn and Tehama County. The teams are voted on by coaches.
