It feels like the season just started, but the main Tekken World Tour 2024 action is about to come to an end until the grand finale in few months.
Thaiger Uppercut 2024 is not only serving as the last Master event but the final major tournament of the first TWT for Tekken 8, so we’ve gone through and gathered up which players and characters have made it the farthest in trying to earn these last ranking points.
Before the final day of action begins, we have the full stat breakdown for the top 64 competitors with some interesting results so far.
For quite some time, it’s been typical to see the likes of Dragunov, Shaheen, Nina and Claudio take the most popular pick at offline majors for Tekken 8, but that wasn’t the case this weekend.
Said crown fittingly goes to King with a total of 6 players carrying the grappler to the upper bracket and is also at least tied for the most still in the running for the top 48 with 4 competitors keeping the dream alive.
That’s not to say the other aforementioned top-tier contenders have performed poorly either with them all being right behind King although interestingly, Dragunov was a few steps down from the peak with 3 total and all still alive in the bracket too.
Despite falling early in a pools upset to the loser’s side, current Evo champion RB|Arslan Ash is one of the Nina’s continuing to put in work as well though his spot at the Tekken World Tour Finals is more than secured already.
We ended up seeing a total of 29 different main characters across the top 64 so far out of Tekken 8’s 34 fighters with 17 of them being repeat picks.
Since he just released this week, Heihachi Mishima was not legal to use at this event, so he doesn’t count just yet.
That just leaves four characters from the roster who don’t appear to have made any real impact on the last Master event at all, and they’re familiar faces for those who’ve been paying attention to the tournament season.
Leroy, Paul, Raven and Xiaoyu were the only ones left out of the action in the upper bracket, which is pretty much a continuation of their poor results all year for Tekken 8 with some outliers. Meanwhile, Panda only saw usage as a secondary character.
There will be 35 players invited to the Tekken World Tour Finals from the global and regional leaderboards plus the last chance qualifier for the big event running from December 6–8.
