Alawa: Military Analysing Security Situation To Reopen Base – Niger State Govt

Niger state government has declared that the military is analysing the security situation in Alawa, clearing the way for the restoration of a strong military base in the town.

The Acting Governor, Yakubu Garba made the announcement at Government House in Minna after collecting food contributions from Senator Mohammed Sani, who represents Niger East senatorial district, for victims of the recent bandit assault in Alawa.

The move is intended to give increased security cover for the area, which has been plagued by bandit attacks in recent months.

Yakubu Garba also stated that normalcy has returned to the Barkuta community in the Bosso Local Government Area of the State, following communal clashes between farmers and headers that claimed the lives of several people.

A team led by Babasule Bisala gave the donations to the Acting Governor at the government house, noting security concerns as the reason for not directly distributing the food supplies to the people impacted.

The newest attack claimed the lives of 13 farmers who had left an IDP camp to begin cultivating their land.

The Hakimi of Alawa, Ibrahim Salihu, speaking in Hausa, stated that the victims had been identified and that the intervention had reached the victims and relatives of those slain in the incident.

The anticipated reopening of the military facility is expected to provide some relief to the afflicted towns while also creating a safer environment for people and farmers.
