Following the sacking of Erik ten Hag in October, the Manchester United executives appointed Ruben Amorim as the man in charge to lead the club forward.
Since leaving Sporting Lisbon to take the helm at Old Trafford, Amorim has faced several issues, with one of the biggest being trying to fit the squad into his preferred system.
Whilst some players like Matthijs de Ligt and Amad Diallo are excelling under Amorim, other stars are struggling with consistency.
The fact that ten Hag spent £600 million on the current squad over the last year and a half is a concern with the results they are achieving, also having a knock on affect of putting the club into financial pressures.
So far, the Portuguese manager has led the club to four wins, a draw and four loses with a zero goal difference.
Now, Premier League legend Alan Shearer has discussed Amorim’s struggles following United’s shocking 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Alan Shearer discusses the Manchester United squad
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, as reported by United in Focus, Shearer commented: “For Amorim coming in, he must think, ‘This job is so much harder than I thought it was going to be’.”
He continued: “He has to have said to the owners, ‘The money that you’ve spent and this is what you’ve left me with to try and sort this mess out’.
“It’s never a free hit in managing but because of how it’s been for so long there they have to give him time to judge things, give feedback.
“This season is a write-off for them. He has to be able to suss out who he wants, doesn’t want, and then they have to get rid of so many players and get in.”
