Akuma's official theme released for Street Fighter 6 so come listen to the demon's beats

It’s been nearly a year-long wait, but the demon is about to awake finally and take over Street Fighter 6 as we know it.

Capcom just dropped the official character theme for Akuma in SF6 for fans to get a listen in early.

The title of the track is ‘Shura’, which is pretty fitting for the upcoming DLC fighter since it roughly translates to something like a brutal battle.

His fight song is built primarily around some traditional Japanese flutes backed up with some percussion and a digital beat that does stand out a bit for the game’s soundtrack to this point though it is difficult to pinpoint a distinct hook in it.

It also sounds like there may be some heavily distorted chanting dropping in the middle that adds to the tense and uneasy atmosphere built up before slowing down and then rising to finish right after a nice crescendo.

At the start of this month, some lucky players got to try out Akuma at an early preview event in Japan, who shared apparent findings about the DLC character and upcoming balance update — including Rohto|Tokido talking about his gameplay impressions.

That event just wrapped up, however, so now everyone will be counting down the days to get their hands on the demon officially at home.

From just his gameplay trailer, we also got to see some new tools Akuma will have access to in SF6 including what appears to be a new command grab that was pulled from a previous Capcom experiment.

Akuma and the Season 2 balance update for SF6 are set to drop on May 22, so we’ve got just over two weeks to go now.

And we may get to see him in tournament action right afterwards too with Combo Breaker asking entrants whether they want the patch and Akuma to be legal at the big event just a few days later.

You can take a listen to Shura below, and let us know what you think of the track in the comments.
