It’s been announced by Capcom that Akuma will be playable early at the “Real Battle Hub,” which seems to be located at Gamagori, a Japanese city. He’ll be playable there starting on May 1 until May 6, 2024.
“You can try Akuma earlier than anyone else,” says the Street Fighter 6 post in Japanese. This event will be coinciding with Golden Week, which is a Japanese holiday.
In a previous Tweet, an interesting kanji appeared on Akuma’s back. According to Anis Kx Hmi, this kanji is meant to be sort of a pun on Akuma’s name — or rather Gouki’s name in Japanese.
“The kanji on the back refers to Gamagori, a Japanese city of around 80,000 inhabitants located in Aichi prefecture,” said Anis Kx Hmi.
What was initially believed to just be part of an April Fool’s joke has turned into a real announcement. This event will likely feature some of the first video footage of actual people playing the character in Street Fighter 6.

As of right now, Akuma’s Street Fighter 6 gameplay trailer has yet to be released. Additionally, there’s currently no sign of the Akuma Arrives Fighting Pass in Street Fighter 6 considering the Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary Collaboration Fighting Pass that just got revealed.
However, this announcement does appear to narrow down when we can expect Akuma to be available for everyone. Seeing as how this is a chance for those in attendance to “try Akuma earlier than anyone else,” this means that we know that Akuma won’t be launched before May 6.
More than likely, Akuma will be ready one to three weeks after this event. Additionally, Akuma’s gameplay trailer will probably be released sometime in late April.
It’s currently unknown if there will be an opportunity for those who reside in the United States and elsewhere to try out Akuma early, but this likely won’t be the case based on the wording on the Tweet.
Regardless, this opportunity will allow the fans a sneak peek at how Akuma will play in Street Fighter 6. Furthermore, many questions about Akuma will finally be answered such as whether or not he’ll have a “one button” Raging Demon when Modern Controls are set.
Ultimately, we’ll just have to see how things play out from here. As always, we’ll be covering every notable announcement for Akuma here on EventHubs.
