Akpabuyo Constituency By-election: Idundu, Atimbo West, others troop out for APC’s Bassey Ekpo

 

With less than two weeks to the by-election to fill the vacant seat of Akpabuyo State Constituency, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Bassey Ekpo has started his political campaign on a more positive note.

Residents of Idundu/ Anyaghanse, Atimbo West/Effanga Offiong and Edem Odo/Edet Nsa wards trooped out in their numbers on Thursday to receive the campaign train of Hon. Bassey Ekpo, while assuring him of their total support.

The State Chairman of APC, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba, who was represented by the Party’s Secretary, Barr Offiong Mensah, in a brief address, urged the people of Akpabuyo, especially Atimbo West/Effanga Offiong Ward to reciprocate the goodwill and magnanimity of Governor Ben Ayade who has considered indigenes of the ward for appointments into various positions, including the office of Commissioner.

Speaking at the various wards, the Chairman of Akpabuyo Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Bassey, said the APC candidate, Bassey Ekpo, is a saleable product whom when voted into power, the people would have no regret, as he will be fully committed to providing utmost representation for the people.

He described Hon. Bassey Ekpo as a vibrant and industrious young man who readily fits into the clamour for youth inclusion in governance.

The council boss therefore urged the people to turn out en masse and vote for the APC House of Assembly candidate come February 26, 2022.

Similarly, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barr. (Mrs) Rosemary Archibong, who was also in the campaign train, called on people of the various wards to ensure they turn up 100 percent of their votes for the APC candidate, who she described as a son of the soil that is out to render quality service to his people.

Also, the Chapter Chairman of the party in Akpabuyo, Pastor Henry Ekpenyong, appealed to people in all three wards being visited to vote massively for the APC, adding that the party’s candidate was the answer to the continued advocacy for youth participation in government.

On his part, the APC candidate, Hon. Bassey Ekpo thanked Governor Ben Ayade for giving the youth the opportunity to showcase their leadership potentials as well as creating an enabling environment for them to aspire for various positions of leadership in the state.

He said he is keen on getting into the legislature to advocate and defend the interest of the Akpabuyo people and secure the dividends of democracy for everyone.

The APC candidate urged the people not to be deceived into selling out their voters card for a pittance, adding that doing so would amount to them selling their future.

In the campaign train were very senior stakeholders such as Sir Maurice Effiwatt, Chairman of Campaign Team; Dr Genevieve Barnaby, Director General of Hon. Bassey Ekpo Campaign Organization; Prof. Francisca Bassey; Abigail Duke, Vice Chairman of Akpabuyo Local Government Council, amongst others.
