Akpabio Seeks Justice For Victims Of Edo Killings

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has condemned the killing of 16 travellers in Edo State.
He described the action as a senseless act of violence that has no place in the society.

Akpabio also called on relevant federal authorities to conduct a proper investigation into the incident, with a view to bringing the culprits justice to assuage the pain of the families of the victims.

This was obtained in a condolence message to the bereaved families, released by his media assistant, Jackson Udom.

The remains of the slain traveling hunters had since been buried on Saturday in Uromi, Edo State where they were attacked.

The burial of the 16 victims who were mistaken for Kidnappers by their assailants, attracted a large number of members of the community who thronged the local cemetery to pay their last respects to the departed souls.

“I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the gruesome murder of 16 travellers in Edo State. This senseless act of violence is unacceptable and has no place in our society. I condemn in very strong terms this heinous crime.

“I also urge the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators of this barbaric act are brought to book and held accountable for their actions. As a people, we must work together to promote peace, unity, and understanding among our people.

“We cannot afford to let such acts of violence divide us or undermine our collective efforts to build a better Nigeria. My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the victims, the government of Edo State, and all those affected by this needless act,” Akpabio said in the statement.
