Typically, a club like Manchester United are known more for buying players from Ajax than beating them to it.
But it seems that the tables have turned with a recent transfer.
Friday night saw United officially sign Mali youngster Sekou Kone.
The highly rated defensive midfielder moved to Old Trafford in a move worth around £1m.
And it seems that United beat a number of other clubs to sign him up.
Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that Manchester United beat Ajax and two German clubs to sign the player.
Apparently, United had been working on the deals for month and pushed through as they saw a potential battle with those three sides for the talented midfielder.
Romano states that Kone is seen as a top talent who will be a first team player soon.
MUFC fans will be pleased to see that the club have gotten in a talented player early and for a great price.
Previously, United have tended to let young talent go past their radar and then are asked to pay extortionate prices if they want to sign them.
Hopefully, the Sekou Kone deal is a template for future transfer business done by the club.
