The Assistant Inspector General of Police(AIG)Zone 6, Calabar, Mr. Zaki Ahmed, has assured Odukpani indigenes and Cross Riverians of continuous protection of lives and properties.
He made this statement when the Representatives of Odukpani Leadership Academy payed him a visit in his office on Tuesday, 21st of January 2020 to discuss on Restoring Lasting Peace, Law and Order to the warring communities of the Local Government.
AIG Zaki Ahmed commend the group for the visit and the good works they are doing in Odukpani Local Government Area which are geared towards complimenting the effort of the State Government and further advised citizens to always see the Nigerian Police Force as their friends and be ready to give useful information to the force that will lead to tracking of these perpetrators of crime and their sponsors as they live among us in the Society.
AIG Ahmed, commended the Governor HE Sen. Prof Ben Ayade for his support to the various security operatives in the state and in same vein applauded the different security agencies for the snergy existing between them in Cross River State, which has helped in sterming insecurity.
The Commissioner of Police also informed the Odukpani Leadership cluster that the Deputy Governors of Akwa lbom and Cross River met on Monday 20th January 2020 and had an exhausting discuss and resolve on ensuring that lasting peace, law and order returns to Odukpani LGA.
He advised the body and indigenes of the Local Government to go about their lawful duties and while calling on investors to take advantage of this peace accord to invest in the Local Government Area.
In response, the Chairman of Odukpani Leadership Academy, Comrade, Kingsley lta Ikpeme thanked the AIG Zone 6 for the audience and his resolve to improve on the security architecture of Odukpani Local Government Area and Cross River State.
lkpeme said we are here to fine lasting solution to the protracted issues leading to crisis in Odukpani LGA, as we have been embarking on a wake up call to notable leaders, stakeholders, heads of parastatals, security agencies, youth groups, religious leaders and traditional rulers of Odukpani LGA.
Comrade, Kingsley lta Ikpeme who is the immediate past Director General of Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority appealed to the State Government to call on the National Boundary Commission act as a matter of urgency by physically demarcating the boundaries between Cross River State and other neighbouring States, that police stations and effective Security patrol both on land and in the Creek should be established in crisis prone communities of Odukpani LGA.
He further advised that traditional rulers should to be cautioned and made to stay in their villages to provide guidiance to the youth and certificate of recognition retrieved by the state government from any traditional ruler or village head whose community frequently engages in communual crisis.
The Chairman of the Leadership Academy also drew the attention of all to the visit he and his group paid to the different IDP’S camps in Odukpani LGA where relief materials were presented to the lDP’s by the group. Also the launch an Educational Campaign tagged : Back to School where study materials were presented to the displaced persons and student’s of Local Government, to encourage their growth in Education.
lkpeme commended the State Governor HE Sir Ben Ayade for his industralisation drive, expressing optimism that when fully completed will create jobs for the teeming number of young people and indices to decouple the state from Federal Allocation. He call on youth to shun repressals attack and all warring Communities in the state to heed to the directives of the Governor, calling on Warring Communities in the State to sheath their swords, embrace peace or face the wrath of the law. The visit featured interactive session, group photograh and exchange of gift.
