Manchester United have now received a massive boost for one of their key targets this January.
Ruben Amorim has been working with his squad to fit into his preferred 3-4-3 system.
The United squad have been adapting well to the new system, with some players like Noussair Mazraoui and Amad Diallo fitting into slightly new roles, with Mazraoui playing more centrally and Amad fitting into a wing-back role.
Meanwhile, the United recruitment team have been looking further afield to look at strengthening Amorim’s options.
One area of focus for the recruitment team is the left-wing-back role with United prioritising the pursuit of Alphonso Davies.

United are facing competition from Real Madrid to sign the defender whose contract ends in the summer.
Bayern Munich are reportedly trying to negotiate a new contract with Davies, however, it’s not been going well.
New reports from Christian Falk have claimed that Davies’ agent Nick Househ is considering agreeing to a move to Old Trafford for the talented left-back.
Househ has been left angry with Bayern’s approach to the negotiations. The agent recently cancelled a trip to Munich to discuss the situation with the club. To Househ’s surprise, Bayern’s director Max Eberl didn’t attend the meeting that was carried out via video link.
As such, Davies’ agent now wants to take United and Madrid seriously by listening to their offers.
However, this could just be a tactic by Davies’ agent who has been dropping United’s name for some time. This move could be a way of putting pressure on Bayern, with United having offered a “blank cheque” to Davies to select his wage.
That said, this is in keeping with the recent news that United are going to be meeting with Davies and his team in the new year to discuss a potential pre-contract agreement.
