After 8 Years Leadership Tussle C'River IPMAN Gets New Chairman

CALABAR – In a conclusion to the protracted leadership struggle at the Calabar Depot of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Comrade Robert Obi has emerged as the new chairman. The election, which took place during the AGM/Special General Meeting at DANIC Hotels in Calabar, saw Obi and 11 other Executive Council Members elected through a transparent and unified process.

Obi who will be at the union’s helm affairs for the next three years, pledged to a transparent administration and confidently asserted his team’s ability to overcome the challenges faced by the Calabar depot over the years.
 
During his acceptance speech, he emphasized the need for collective support, rallying Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD), Petroleum Station Workers (PSW), Independent Marketers Branch (IMB), and Oil/Gas Workers (OGS) to stand united for the common good.

Acknowledging the gravity of their mandate, Obi underscored the collaborative effort required, stating, “We are not going to run a one-man business because it’s so challenging; we need the support of all to return our business to where it was.” He reached out to aggrieved members, extending a hand of fellowship, and urged them to join in the collective effort to rebuild IPMAN.
Sir Michael Udofia, the chairman of the electoral committee, highlighted the unity of owners of depots, filling stations, and stakeholders in electing a new leadership.
Representing the national president of IPMAN, Alhaji Ahmed Debo, the national legal adviser, Michael Udofia, affirmed the resolution to permanently address the challenges faced by the Calabar Depot Chapter of IPMAN. He emphasized the imperative for the new executive to work harmoniously and reposition their businesses, expressing confidence in Chairman Obi’s experience and leadership capacity.
The AGM drew representatives from the National President, Zonal authorities, elders of IPMAN’s Calabar Depot unit, as well as representatives of PTD and other critical stakeholders. The event marked a significant step towards a cohesive and rejuvenated leadership for the Calabar Depot of IPMAN.
