Adamawa govt. distributes relief material to victims of flood, windstorm

Adamawa began the distribution of relief items to victims of windstorms and floods in the Demsa Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

The Deputy Governor, Kaletapwa Farauta, said the gesture was to cushion the effect of the disasters on the victims and assured that 20 other affected local government areas would benefit.

She said the government understood the challenges faced by the victims and described its gesture as a demonstration of love, compassion, and empathy.

In his remarks, Muhammed Suleiman, executive secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items and not to sell them.

Mr Suleiman listed relief items distributed, including rice, maize, guinea corn, mats, detergents, cement, roofing sheets, and nails, among others.

One of the beneficiaries, Michael Dimas, who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the government for the gesture.
