Actor Lance Reddick passed away on Friday at the age of 60 due to natural causes, as confirmed by Variety. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Reddick initially pursued a degree in music composition at the University of Rochester before attending the Yale School of Drama, where he obtained his MFA in 1994. He landed his first major TV role as Detective Johnny Basil in HBO’s “Oz” in 2000 before joining the main cast of “The Wire,” where he played Cedric Daniels throughout all five seasons. Reddick’s other credits include “Lost,” “Fringe,” “Bosch,” and “John Wick,” among others.
Reddick’s co-stars from “John Wick,” “The Wire,” “Fringe,” and “Lost” have been paying tribute to the late actor. On March 17, “John Wick” star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski released a joint statement expressing their sorrow at Reddick’s passing. “Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly,” they said.
Reddick married Stephanie Reddick in 2011 and had many dogs, whom he loved showing off on Instagram. He is survived by his two children, Yvonne and Christopher.
