May 07, 2024 QUEENS, New York – Guy Rivera, man accused of killing veteran NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller back in March during a traffic stop was arraigned today in Queens Criminal Court.
Rivera has been charged with murder and gun possession. The accused killer could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.
According to police, while investigating an illegally parked vehicle at a bus stop, 31-year-old Detective Jonathan Diller was gravely wounded after being shot just under his duty worn vest and struck in the stomach. Police say 34-year-old Guy Rivera refused police orders to exit his vehicle and brandished a weapon before firing at officers in Far Rockaway, Queens.
Detective Diller’s murder is the first killing of an NYPD officer in two years.
