Job Purpose The Accountant will manage the businesses' financial operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all financial regulations. This role involves overseeing financial transactions, preparing reports, managing budgets, and ensuring the business's profitability through strategic financial management.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and provide insights and analysis on financial trends, variances, and business performance.
Prepare detailed budgets and forecasts in alignment with business goals.
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy of financial entries.
Perform reconciliation for bank accounts, suppliers, and customer accounts.
Monitor operational costs and suggest cost-saving strategies.
Collaborate with department heads to establish and monitor budgets. Track departmental spending and highlight areas of inefficiency.
Ensure all expenses, including payroll and supplier payments, are processed accurately and on time.
Ensure 100% compliance with all tax regulations including PAYE, Consumption tax, VAT, WHT and other statutory requirements.
Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies during audits and inspections.
Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for day-to-day operations, monitor cash balances and prepare cash flow forecasts.
Collaborate with inventory and store managers to ensure proper inventory reporting.
Use accounting software to manage and maintain financial records.
Assist with implementing financial systems and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

B.Sc. in Finance related field, ICAN/ACCA is an added advantage.
3-4 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the hospitality industry.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting and tax regulations.
