Liverpool‘s Divock Origi has agreed a deal to join AC Milan at the end of the 2021/22 season, with his contact at Anfield coming to an end.
With his exit, Origi will bring his seven-year stay on Merseyside to an end. Although he has never managed to hold down a place in the starting XI, he has earned himself cult-hero status at the club with some memorable goals for the Reds.
The Guardian have reported that a deal has been agreed between Milan and Origi, with just a medical and a signature on paper missing.
Origi’s best moments for Liverpool came during their historic comeback win over Barcelona in the 2019 Champions League semi-final, en route to winning the competition for the seventh time in their history. He also scored a last-gasp winner at home to Everton in the Merseyside derby a year earlier.
In 107 appearances for the club, Origi has scored 22 goals. He could yet make another appearance and score another decisive goal as the Reds host Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of the Premier League season, with them still having an outside chance at winning the title.
Origi’s new club, AC Milan, are also in action on Sunday away to Sassuolo. They know they can win their first Serie A title since 2011 with a draw and dethrone cross-city rivals Inter.
