A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, presided over by Justice Abubakar H. Musa, vacated an arrest order on Wednesday against Aliyu U. Yusuf, the Director of Proceeds of Crime Department at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
As earlier reported by THE WHISTLER, the court ordered the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to arrest both the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, and Yusuf for disregarding an order to vacate a property belonging to Chief Ikechi Emenike.
The property, located at 6 Aso Drive in Abuja, had been seized by the EFCC as proceeds of crime.
The order against the EFCC Chairman was later vacated, while Yusuf was still required to appear in court.
At today’s hearing, Justice Musa granted the request of EFCC counsel Francis Usani for leniency and purging of the contempt charge against Yusuf.
The judge expressed disapproval of disobeying court orders. He then discharged Yusuf of the contempt charge and adjourned the main case to April 11, 2024 for a ruling.
