The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2024-25 Large Business of the Year is Andalusia Health.

Andalusia Health was celebrated for its positive impact on the health and well being of the local community, not only as a healthcare provider but also as a large employer, taxpayer, and charitable contributor.

Last year alone, the hospital saw about 65,000 patients, treated nearly 19,000 in its emergency room, and delivered 251 babies. It made significant investments to improve services through the recruitment of new providers and through capital improvements. In the spring of 2024, it earned the prestigious “A” grade for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group.

Impressive, but Andalusia Health’s impact on the community often extends beyond its four walls.

The hospital, which has been part of this community for about 60 years, currently employs approximately 340 team members. It annually distributes around $19 million in salaries, wages, and benefits, and pays about $3.5 million in provider, payroll, property, and sales taxes.

Equally important, Andalusia Health provides roughly $8 million in charitable or uncompensated care each year, often affording healthcare services to those in need but without the means to pay. Many of its leadership team members also serve on the boards of local organizations, and many more of its team members volunteer at local not-for-profits.

The hospital itself supports many of these organizations annually with tens of thousands of dollars in financial contributions. The Andalusia Chamber is just one of the organizations Andalusia Health is proud to support. Others include Andalusia Ballet, Andalusia High School Booster Club, Covington County Child Advocacy Center, Cookies with Characters, Covington Veteran Association, Korean War Veterans, July Jamz, LBWCC Saints, Miracle League, and Southeast Alabama Works.

Andalusia Health greatly appreciates this Chamber recognition and deeply values its partnership with the local community. Your support is invaluable to the hospital’s efforts to help you be well and live well.

And, as Andalusia Health likes to say, “That’s why we’re here.”
