Manchester United duo Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot played their part in Portugal’s seven-goal thriller against Denmark.

They helped secure a 5-2 win after extra time to reach the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

The match saw five United players in action, with Fernandes and Dalot starting for Portugal.

While Christian Eriksen, Rasmus Hojlund, and Patrick Dorgu featured for Denmark.

Eriksen, who missed a penalty in the first leg, got on the scoresheet this time.

While former United star Cristiano Ronaldo also found the net.

Denmark had taken a 1-0 lead into the second leg after Hojlund’s decisive goal in the first match, but Portugal responded in emphatic fashion.

Fernandes played the full 120 minutes, while Dalot was substituted just after the 80-minute mark.

Despite Portugal’s five-goal haul, neither Fernandes nor Dalot registered a direct goal contribution, but the former still played a key role in the victory.

Portuguese outlet A Bola assessed both United players, handing Fernandes a 7/10 rating and describing him as one of Portugal’s standout performers.

They wrote: “He seemed a bit lost in the Danish pressure for most of the first half, until, from a corner he converted.

“He saw the ball fly to Andersen’s head and go straight into the goal.

“He was also instrumental in Portugal’s second goal, shooting against the post and seeing Ronaldo tap in the rebound to make it 2-1.”

Despite not scoring or assisting, Fernandes remained a creative force, making four key passes in the match.

Dalot, meanwhile, received a 5/10 rating, with A Bola acknowledging his defensive efforts but also highlighting some key mistakes.

“Always very willing in the compensations, he saved Portugal several times due to his precision in the tackles.

“He then showed great passing to get the team going again.

“However, he did not escape a huge scare when, from a throw-in, he served Hjulmand who came close to making it 1-1.

“He lost steam, to the same extent that he accumulated marking errors in the second half.”

Going forward, Dalot struggled, failing to complete a single cross or dribble.

Both Fernandes and Dalot will now return to Carrington as Manchester United prepare for their next Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest next Tuesday.
