Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has announced that Luke Shaw is set to return for the team’s upcoming match against Everton on Sunday.

Shaw, who plays as a defender for England, is coming back from a muscle injury that has kept him sidelined since August.

United, who have struggled to fill the left-back position in Shaw’s absence, will welcome his return.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, another of United’s defenders, is also available for selection after missing out on the recent victory over Luton Town due to illness.

Andre Onana, United’s goalkeeper, is ready to play following a groin injury he picked up playing for Cameroon.

Onana had to leave his national team duties and return to Manchester for treatment but is now cleared for the game at Goodison Park.

However, there are fitness concerns over Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen, who both withdrew from the Danish national team for recent matches against Northern Ireland and Slovenia.

Ten Hag has indicated that Hojlund could play a part in the upcoming match, subject to a late fitness test, but Eriksen’s knee injury is expected to take longer to heal.

United will likely be without Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, and Jonny Evans for the clash.

The match comes at a significant time for Everton, who are dealing with the fallout from a ten-point deduction in the Premier League for breaching financial rules.

This is their first match since that penalty, and a strong fan reaction is anticipated.

The injury situation at United remains a concern. Tyrell Malacia and Amad Diallo are out of contention, while Facundo Pellistri returned from international duty with an injury.

Jadon Sancho remains sidelined, and Mason Mount has recently suffered a calf injury that could keep him out for around a month.

The predicted lineup for Manchester United in a 4-2-3-1 formation is: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Amrabat; Rashford, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund.

Injury list: Casemiro, Martinez, Eriksen, Malacia, Amad, Mount

Doubtful: Evans, Pellistri, Hojlund

The match is scheduled for 4:30pm GMT on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Goodison Park.
