October 22, 2024, Brooklyn, New York – On Tuesday morning, an arrest announcement of former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries for a sex trafficking case was made by Breon Peace, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
Also implicated in the crimes was his romantic partner and employee of The Jeffries Family Office, Matt Smith, along with a third associate, James T. Jacobson. All were arrested Tuesday for their alleged role.
After accusations surfaced a criminal investigation was initiated by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn and other agencies.
“I think you know, we have a track record of bringing cases with respect to people in power who have taken advantage of and abused others.
We prosecuted R. Kelly. We brought the Nxivm case, we don’t hesitate to hold the powerful and wealthy to account, if they have violated federal criminal laws.” said Breon Peace, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
The trio have been charged with 1 count of sex trafficking and 15 counts of interstate prostitution with the possibility of more charges and are awaiting court appearances in New York State. The 80-year-old former CEO is also facing arraignments in two other states first.
