Ed Boon says that Wi-Fi filter and crossplay are 'koming soon' to Mortal Kombat 1

Just yesterday, we reported on a certain fan holding up a sign at a pay-per-view wrestling event, pleading with Ed Boon to add a Wi-Fi filter to Mortal Kombat 1. Though Boon has responded to these sort of stunts before, this particular situation was seemingly putting the NetherRealm Studios title in a negative light.

However, it seems that Ed Boon did end up responding to the fan’s bold way of requesting a Wi-Fi filter. As it turns out, NRS has been working hard towards implementing some much needed features for the game.

“It’s koming soon, I swear!” said Boon over Twitter in response to yesterday’s article. “Wi-Fi filter and Kross-play! We just [have to] make sure they’re solid.”

Earlier this month, Ed Boon polled the community on which quality of life features that they’d like to see in Mortal Kombat 1 the most. Crossplay ended up winning the poll with over 75% of the votes, but the other options would also be good for the game.

Ranked mode has already been switched from 3/5 to 2/3. Of course, we’re also still waiting on the ping filter and Wi-Fi filter for ranked matches. As things stand right now, a ranked match can only be declined if ping is over 150ms.

Luckily, it seems that more information about the Wi-Fi filter and crossplay features are coming soon. Boon requests that fans remain just a little more patient in the meantime.

“More info koming soon!” continued Boon. “Thanks for your patience.”

In a follow up Tweet, Ed Boon added that the Wi-Fi filter and ability to decline Wi-Fi connections will be the next quality of life changes coming to Mortal Kombat 1.
