It’s been quite some time since the M. Bison compatibility patch and the Season 2 update. Needless to say, the characters that we see performing at tournaments have somewhat changed going from Season 1 to Season 2.
As such, Evo 2024 winner FLY|Punk and Kizzie Kay recently collaborated to create a new tier list of sorts. However, this tier list rates characters based on how much they were impacted by nerfs from the latest couple of patches.
Though he was known for being a top tier threat in Season 1, we don’t see too many Luke users at major events anymore. According to Punk, Luke is the most nerfed character in Season 2 of Street Fighter 6. JP is up there with him as he was also hit pretty hard by balance tweaks.
Funnily enough, Punk at point even states that he even kind of misses seeing Luke at these sort of tournaments. Punk does note that Luke and JP aren’t necessarily bad now, but they are noticeably worse.
E. Honda, Ed, Ryu, A.K.I., Jamie, Kimberly, and Zangief actually ended up benefitting from quite a few buffs. As a result, they’re, ironically, at the bottom of the tier list since their kits are now just strictly better compared to their Season 1 iterations.
Of course, Terry Bogard is set to join the roster on September 24, 2024. As of right now, it’s unknown if there will be any additional balance adjustments made to the game with the upcoming update, though it should be noted that Director Takayuki Nakayama has previously said that there’d be plenty of smaller balance patches this time around.
