Reptile's Animality has been revealed in Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns

The next big step for Mortal Kombat 1 is coming very soon. Early next week, players everywhere will be able to get their hands on Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns, a paid expansion to the game that adds new characters, new story mode chapters, and more.

Even if you opt not to purchase Khaos Reigns, though, NetherRealm Studios is still launching a free update that will add the new finisher type, Animalities, to the game for every main roster fighter. Today, the folks behind MK1 have revealed another Animality and this time it’s for classic green ninja Reptile.

Back in the Mortal Kombat 3 days when Animalities first made their way into the series, Reptile’s special finisher saw him transform into a chimp. This Animality was a little odd considering the character’s name is literally “Reptile,” but strange animal choice aside, Reptile would transform, then chase his opponent off screen for a surprisingly non-violent conclusion.

Here in Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns, however, Reptile’s new transformation sees him become a giant Venus fly trap.

Unlike his past Animality, this new finisher is absolutely brutal. In it, Reptile becomes the giant plant and extends a long tongue out that wraps around the opponent and pulls them in.

Instead of staying closed and slowly degenerating its victim like an actual Venus fly trap would, Reptile chomps down several times and devours the opponent in a bloody frenzy.

Just this week, NetherRealm has revealed quite a few new Animalities for the cast of Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns.

We saw the unveiling of Kitana’s new finisher, Takeda’s, and also saw the full version of Noob Saibot’s which showed us that it is almost an identical recreation of a classic Mortal Kombat 9 Fatality.

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns is set for release on September 24. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S. PC, and Nintendo Switch.
