We are just days away from Mortal Kombat 1 as the Khaos Reigns story and game expansion is slated to launch on September 24. Part of this content surge is the return of one of the franchise’s nostalgic enders that hasn’t really been around since the days of Mortal Kombat 3: Animalities.
Ed Boon and his team at NetherRealm Studios have shown us footage of four full Mortal Kombat 1 Animalities and partial footage of another nine thus far. We’ve rounded up all the Animality information here in one place so you can see who turns into what animal, how they take out their opponent, and just how brutally awesome this returning feature is shaping up to be.
Kitana – Hummingbird – Pecks at foes rapidly until they fall apart, samples their blood
Mileena – Orchid Mantis – Stabs foe’s shoulders, devours head, rips in half
Noob Saibot – Dual Alligators – Each gator bites one of opponent’s legs, rip in half
Rain – Pufferfish – Enters foes mouth when small, expands in foe’s stomach, explodes foe
Smoke – Gorilla – Tosses opponent like rag doll, inserts two fingers into foe’s mouth, rips in half
Takeda – Octopus – Drags opponent down into the sea, rips them in half, eats top half
Cyrax – Hornet – Stings foe’s face repeatedly until their head explodes
Geras – Hippopotamus – Engulfs foe in mouth, slowly crushes them
Havik – Hyena – Pounces on foe, rips repeatedly at their stomach
Kenshi – Dual Wolves – Bite either side of foe, rip in half
Liu Kang – Phoenix – Engulfs foe with flaming wings, burns them to death
Quan Chi – Fossilized T-Rex – Bites foe, tosses them into air
Scorpion – Scorpion – Stabs foe repeatedly with tail
Sektor – Rhinoceros – Charges foe, impales foe, drags foe
Sub-Zero – Wooly Mammoth – Impales foe on tusk, splits them in half
