The upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics boasts seven classic titles, but none are as iconic and important to the fighting game community as Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes.
Capcom has been rolling out individual trailers for the individual titles amid the Collection, and have just released one for MvC2. Hit the jump below to see the new trailer for one of the FGC’s most beloved games of all time.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 marked the first time the Versus Series boldly took on three on three action as previous entries only allowed players to control one or two characters.
This game launched nearly a quarter century ago in 2000, during a time where fighting game competition was burgeoning to new levels of popularity. The pair of perfect timing and execution led to MvC2 gaining a ton of traction in the competitive community as it would soon become a massively anticipated tournament title.
Fighting game community hall of famers (if there were such a thing) like Justin Wong, Yipes, Sanford Kelly, and many others would make their marks on the FGC with undeniable MvC2 performances on Evo (back then it was still called Battle by the Bay) stages, further ironing the legacy of the title into FGC history.
Check out the quick trailer for the classic title below and share your favorite MvC2 moment in the comments after. If you’d like to see more trailers like this, you can also see what Capcom came up with for Marvel Superheroes vs. Street Fighter and X-Men vs. Street Fighter
