In a crazy last minute transfer market twist, Manchester United have agreed personal terms with a star winger playing for Chelsea.
As we were approaching the final week of the transfer window, it looked like United’s final dip into the transfer market would be for long-term priority target Manuel Ugarte. However it doesn’t look like The Red Devils are stopping there.
Over the weekend news emerged of Chelsea wanting to challenge Juventus in signing Jadon Sancho, with the potential of using Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling to get the deal done.

Whilst United have rejected the opportunity to sign Chilwell, Dan Ashworth has been drawn in by the chance of signing Sterling, so negotiations have been happening between the two Premier League sides.
It’s known that Ashworth is a big fan of Sterling since their time at the England camp together. Also with how measured Ashworth and his team have been throughout the transfer market, it seems unlikely that this is a panic buy, and more that the sporting director sees real promise in the deal.
Now it’s emerged that the exchange of players are actually being looked it in separate deals, meaning if Sancho ends up going to Juventus instead, United may still sign Sterling.
However, much like Sancho, Sterling has a significant salary attached to him at £300,000 per week, meaning that signing the England winger would require creativity and sacrifice from United and Sterling.
With their clever transfer business so far, Untied are keen not to slip up last minute and agree to a deal that would negatively affect the club’s finances.
So, United in Focus have reported that The Red Devils have been very clear with the Chelsea man that they would not be able to pay him over £200,000 a week, with this being the max they could sign off.
Interestingly though, Sterling has agreed to this deal in principle, with some work still to do.
