Capcom apparently wasn’t kidding before when they said they wanted all of their classic fighting games to be available on modern consoles after today.
On top of finally getting the release dates for the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, they also announced the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 alongside some nostalgic ways to get started with the biggest titles.
Capcom has put out a handful of classic arcade-style marquees to give quick visual breakdowns of how the different games work along with character moves.
These are what you’d see plastered around the sides and face plates of arcade cabinets back in the day spruced up with a modern makeover for the collections.
Capcom vs. SNK 2 not only gives you 3–4 special inputs per character, but also an explanation of all the different grooves in the game plus how mechanics like the Free Ratio System and Guard Break work.
They’ve also included some that look to be at least based on the actual old marquees too for Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter as well.
From the trailer today, it appears as though more detailed marquees may be included with all of the games across the collections in their respective galleries though we haven’t seen all of them yet.
X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 are shown to have Japanese arcade marquees / posters too, which is cool to see, even if you can’t fully understand them without busting out a translator app.
This does make us wish that the new Capcom Fighting Collections would automatically be able to display the character marquees for the ones you pick to play as on the sides in place / on top of the borders.
Like the MvC Collection, we also learned today that the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is going to be making some changes to the content available in the featured games.
The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection is set to release on September 12 digitally followed by a physical version in November while the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is coming in 2025.
Both sets are being released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
You can check out the arcade-stle marquees in the gallery below that they’ve revealed so far.
