Capcom addresses Street Fighter 6 cheating problem, currently investigating and taking disciplinary actions against gaming grifters

Street Fighter 6’s online experience is usually top tier as Capcom has made massive improvements over past franchise entries when it comes to fluid connections, but with more people than ever throwing down over network play, a new hydra head has appeared as cheating has become a little too commonplace.

It can be hard to identify cheaters at first as a few lightning-fast reactions could be chalked up to a combination of skill and momentary luck, but the community has become increasingly familiar with scammers and become more efficient at pointing them out.

We’ve posted a handful of articles here on EventHubs as players have rushed to social media to share their grief and oust the names of those who try to play with scripts instead of skill. Indeed the problem is even more prevalent than we perhaps realized as seemingly every article about a cheater linked back to another from just a week or two before.

We even covered an instance wherein both players were using cheats at the same time, which made for an interesting watch but could only be so entertaining as it naturally points to a growing problem that threatens to devalue the SF6 online experience.

Things have gotten bad enough so that players like Broski have begun producing cheater detector videos, and so Capcom’s recent post promising that they’re actively working to thwart those who would cheapen the competitive landscape in this way comes none too soon.

“StreetFighter6 is regularly investigating players who have engaged in cheating, inappropriate chat comments, or other disruptive behavior,” begins their post. “We are taking disciplinary actions such as permanent restrictions on online functions against players who fall under these categories.”
