A female student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Naja’atu Salisu, was found unconscious after falling in the bathroom on Friday morning.
Sources say the 300-level Computer Science student was discovered lying unconscious on the bathroom floor at the female hostel at the Gubi campus of the university after she went in to take her bath.
One of her roommates, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that Naja’atu was preparing for the early morning lecture the Friday when the incident happened.
“She had completed her usual morning routine and brought out the clothes she intended to wear to class, leaving them beside her bed,” she said.
The Spokesperson of ATBU, Zailani Bappa who confirmed the incident, stated that Naja’atu was rushed to the university’s clinic for medical attention but was referred to another hospital.
He further stated that she was then taken to the Trauma Centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical doctors.
Bappa noted that Naja’atu had been buried according to Islamic rites and prayed God to comfort her family.
