Ryu's English voice actor does the Ryu from Streets meme for real

The fighting game community has its own particular meme culture, and no matter what you think, we wouldn’t trade trade it for any other.

Luke’s voice actor for Street Fighter 6, Aleks Le, recently held a special stream with the legendary Kyle Hebert where they made the Ryu from Streets meme official.

Following the live stream, Le would post the clip online of Hebert voicing the character he’s been playing for 15 years at this point in a way he probably hasn’t before.

And though he could have made it sound clean, it seems they wanted to keep the audio basically blown out to better match the original.

The Ryu from Streets meme originated all the way back in May 2015 through Zoobe’s voice messaging service, which is a lot farther back than we thought.

Though Zoobe shut down back in 2017, Ryu from Streets has lived on since before Street Fighter 5 released all the way through Street Fighter 6 coming out while still being referenced.

This isn’t the first time Aleks Le has messed around with the meme either, since he recorded a different version for Luke that took a lot more work than the original ever did.

You can find Hebert talking about his love for stale bread below as well as the full stream with the two voice actors on Le’s Twitch channel.
