We are coming right off of the high generated by the largest open-bracket fighting game competition in the world, Evo 2024. The event this past weekend delivered the highest level of play we’ve seen yet for many top notch fighting titles, bringing with it new iconic moments, incredible stories, and plenty of announcements for many of our favorite games.
Now that the dust is settling a bit and some competitors are finally back home, we’re seeing those who competed sharing their experiences and having discussions on social media. As for Street Fighter 6 Evo 2024 top 8 placer Saishunkan|Nemo, the incredibly skilled world warrior has already gotten settled and has now released a fresh tier list for Season 2, post-Evo, that kicks off with Zangief as the #1 character in the entire game.
Nemo arranges this tier list into six different lettered categories. We begin with S rank signifying the best in the game, and then we descend down through A, B, C, D, and E ranks.
Fortunately, Nemo also left a few notes within the tweet sharing the new list that provide us with more details on what the placements mean. Through the translation work of our very own Nicholas “MajinTenshinhan” Taylor, we learn the following:
S – This season’s best character
A – Guaranteed top 5
B – Candidates for top 5
C – Strong, but probably not top 5 material
D – Strong, but seem like they have many bad matchups
E – Annoying to fight
And with that, we can have a look at Nemo’s newest tier list with all of the information we need to decipher it.
As mentioned before, Nemo places Zangief as the without question #1 character in Street Fighter 6 here in Season 2. It’s no secret that Gief received a lot of buffs this season and is no doubt much stronger than he used to be, and I can’t help but feel like Nemo’s personal bias for fighting against Zangief has inspired this placement somewhat.
Next in line as guaranteed top 5 characters we see the two last characters standing during Evo 2024. Nemo has the grand finals winner, Cammy, here in A rank, along with Evo 2024 2nd placer Rashid.
At this point, I think it’s safe to say that both Cammy and Rashid are either top 5 as Nemo says, or pretty darn close to it considering how strong both fighters are.
Interestingly, Nemo does have a placement for his new main, M. Bison. While many feel this character is incredibly strong, Nemo puts him at the tail end of B rank — meaning he’s a top 5 candidate, but not for sure a top 5-er.
