Something that Manchester United have been notoriously poor at is selling players.

For a while now, MUFC fans have seen the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City selling players for top price. The likes of Philippe Coutinho, Eden Hazard and Raheem Sterling have brought in significant amounts of money for their sides.

Not only senior players, but homegrown talent sales is also an area where United have historically struggled.

Players that have come through the Old Trafford academy system tend to go for single digits figures. Whereas the likes of Dominic Solanke, Mason Mount and Cole Palmer have netted their sides multiples in the tens of millions category.

With INEOS now taking further control of the club, Manchester United are looking to get back on track when it comes to getting good value for player transfers.

It seems like the club are already having conversations to sell certain homegrown players for a value that they want.

Turkiye side Galatasaray vice-chairman Ibrahim Hatipoglu has been speaking about his club’s desire to sign a United midfielder this summer.

Galatasaray want United star

And that player is Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay.

For those fans who remember, McTominay was linked heavily with a departure last summer with West Ham United rumoured to have had a bid rejected for the player. Bayern Munich were also said to be interested, but unwilling to pay the amount that United wanted.

All in all, it worked out well for everybody. McTominay was a key player for the club last season as he often popped up with important goals throughout the season. His late double against Brentford to turn a loss into victory was a particular highlight.

Despite that, it’s been stated that the club are willing to sell him if the offer was right.

Speaking to the website Haber Sari Kirmizi, Hatipoglu was open about his club’s desire to bring the Scot to Turkiye.

“McTominay’s transfer fee is being discussed,” Hatipoglu said when addressing the clubs plans for the summer.

“Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a good player, he has many suitors, he wants to see all options.

“There is no talk of single-digit figures for right-back and midfield transfers. But we have allocated a budget of less than €10million for right-back.

“There is no negative situation regarding Guela Doue [Rennes right-back]. Negotiations are ongoing [for] McTominay and Doue. Wan-Bissaka is not our priority.”

Galatasaray don’t seem to be messing around when it comes to their summer recruitment.

This is a very vocal proclamation from their vice-chairman as to who their targets are. Naming McTominay seems to indicate that they’re fairly confident that they can get their man.

From his comments, it’s unclear whether Galatasaray would be willing to meet United’s valuation or if they’ve had positive noises from McTominay’s camp on a move.

Either way, it will be interesting to see whether the Super Lig side will be able to bring the United man to their club in this summers transfer window.
