Takeda’s gameplay trailer has been revealed for Mortal Kombat 1. He, along with Ferra as a Kameo, will be releasing on July 23, 2024.
We haven’t had Takeda as a playable character since Mortal Kombat X, back when that was released on April 14, 2015. Just like with Mortal Kombat X, Takeda boasts incredible reach thanks to his serrated edged whips.
Despite having reach comparable to Dhalsim of the Street Fighter series, Takeda does not appear to be a zoning character. When fighting up close, Takeda seems to have some fairly speedy normals to work with.
Additionally, it appears that Takeda will be able to keep opponents guessing with high and low mix ups from various ranges. One of his specials has him throwing ninja stars at the ground, which will seemingly explode after a set amount of time.
Takeda can use his serrated edged whips similar to Scorpion’s Spear special, though Takeda tends to pull himself towards the opponent rather than pulling them towards himself. While airborne, Takeda throws his serrated edged whips diagonally downwards.
Throughout the trailer, it’s demonstrated that various Kameos are getting some power ups in the upcoming patch. Some notable changes can be spotted for the Frost, Cyrax, and Sektor Kameos.
Takeda and Ferra are scheduled to be released on July 23, 2024, though it seems that they’ll be available to try out at Evo 2024 this upcoming weekend. Check it all out below:
