Mason Greenwood’s future seems to be edging one step closer to be confirmed with a top French club submitting an official bid for the young star.
The Manchester United academy graduate has been the centre of massive interest across Europe this transfer window, with clubs like Borussia Dortmund and Fenerbahce looking to sign the young winger.
Serie A was a hub of the Greenwood race for a long while, with Lazio, Juventus and Napoli all fighting it for the Getafe Player of the Season, with Juventus agreeing personal terms with the star despite Lazio being the only team to official submit an offer for the Englishman.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has taken to X to confirm that another one of Greenwood’s followers, Olympique Marseille, have officially sent an initial bid to United for the 22-year-old.
United and Marseille have now entered into conversations around the player’s availability, with the two teams getting even closer to an agreement.
Although the details are unknown at this time, it’s believed the deal is looking most likely to be a loan offer with an obligation to buy at the end, plus an inbuilt sell-on clause for United to benefit on any future sale of the winger.
This move is set to benefit everyone involved with United including the 22-year-old in their list of priority sales this summer to raise transfer funds for their squad overhaul, with Greenwood favouring Marseille over other clubs interested in him this summer.
