Two Injured As Robbers Trail Bank Customer In Delta

Unidentified gunmen injured two persons in a robbery attack in Ughelli, Delta State, on Friday.

Reports gathered indicated that the gunmen, numbering five, targeted a United Bank of Africa (UBA) customer just moments after they entered the bank’s premises in Ughelli. The assailants opened fire indiscriminately.

Security personnel attached to the bank, however, engaged the robbers in a shootout and prevented them from entering the building.

Two persons, including a private security guard, were injured.

Confirming the incident to THE WHISTLER, the police spokesperson in Delta, Bright Edafe, said: “A customer who was coming to the bank was double-crossed and robbed before he could get to the bank, no be bank robbery but I don’t have the idea of how much, and nobody was abducted.”

He assured that the assailants would be brought to book as soon as possible

“I can assure you that we will arrest them. We have a special team in that Ughelli area, we are going to arrest them very soon,” added Edafe.
