Le Pen accuses Macron of ‘administrative coup’
The word ‘cohabitation’ below refers to what happens in the French government when the President of the country is from a different political party to that of the majority party in Parliament. Here the problem would obviously be Macron as president with Le Pen’s party occupying the bulk of the National Assembly seats, pending this Sunday’s final round of elections.
This rumour of Macron loading up key administrative positions ahead of the final round was put out on June 29, four days ago. In four days time is the second and final round of the legislative elections. Today, July 3, is the day when these appointments are due to be made. We will see.
As the Politico article above notes, there is already overt competition between Macron and Le Pen over who will be able to do what under a cohabitation government. See this we published the other day —
Le Pen raises the stakes by challenging Macron’s role as commander-in-chief

The last panic rumour was about Macron triggering Article 16, giving him full presidential powers for a temporary period. The supposition being that if Le Pen’s party gets the majority of legislative seats by Sunday, the deep state thugs (Antifa, etc.) would then stir up trouble, requiring emergency measures to be called for because the security of the state is threatened. Marine Le Pen accuses Emmanuel Macron of fomenting an “administrative coup”
RT FRANCE
Marine Le Pen accused the Macronist camp on July 2 of preparing an “administrative coup d’état.” According to her, the French presidency is considering a wave of appointments in order to secure key positions in the police and gendarmerie before a possible cohabitation.
“There are rumors that the President of the Republic is considering tomorrow [July 3], that is to say four days before the second round, appointing the director general of the national police, while he was supposed to stay until the end of the Olympic Games (ER: up to August 11), and the director of the national gendarmerie,” Marine Le Pen castigated on France Inter on July 2.
The president of the RN group in the National Assembly fears that the executive will proceed urgently with appointments to key internal security positions before a possible cohabitation. In his eyes, the government would aim, in haste, to “prevent Jordan Bardella from governing the country as he wishes”, if the National Rally wins an absolute majority in the second round of the legislative elections on July 7. “It’s a form of administrative coup d’état,” she said, before hoping “that this is just a rumor.”
“For people who give lessons in democracy to the entire world, it’s still surprising to act in this way,” she protested. And Marine Le Pen concluded: “In these cases, it was not necessary to dissolve.”
The information came from the Journal du Dimanche (ER: link with paywall, from June 29) : the latter revealed on June 29 that numerous appointments were expected on Wednesday, during the council of ministers to place close associates in strategic positions in order to hinder Jordan Bardella’s possibilities for action in the event of a victory for the RN.
The Elysée Palace justifies itself
The presidential camp, for its part, dismissed Marine Le Pen’s accusations, with MP Clément Beaune saying on BFMTV that the latter’s “words and behaviour” were “extremely serious”.
“For 66 years [the beginning of the Fifth Republic, editor’s note] there have been appointments and movements every week, particularly in the summer, regardless of the political moments experienced by our institutions, and there is no plan that any of these provisions could change in the coming months,” declared the Presidency of the Republic later in the day.
Eric Ciotti, now allied with the RN, spoke on Europe 1/CNews of “general panic” and denounced attempts to “rehouse relatives”. “It’s a sign of defeat, perhaps of lucidity in this matter”, he also observed. “It’s always been done”, he concluded.
“We want to govern, let’s make things extremely clear,” Marine Le Pen also said, when asked about the real desire for government of a party that had until now been confined to the opposition. But “it is obvious that we cannot agree to go into government if we cannot act,” she added.
Tensions are building in France in the wake of the RN’s victory in the first round of the legislative elections, with 33.15% of the vote. The left-wing coalition of the New Popular Front reached 27.99%. The presidential camp was routed, in third place with only 20.8% of the vote.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
