No… no it will not
We’ll soon be delving into a nostalgic world of crossovers as the exciting new Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is slated to release later this year for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, but the title will not feature crossplay support.
Despite the highly desired feature becoming more and more prominent in recent years, it’s far from being a routine practice yet. That said, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection does have a handful of exciting new features that’ll make the experience plenty enjoyable.
The Versus titles included in the collection range from being two to three decades old at this point, meaning that they lacked tons of the bells and whistles we more or less take for granted in modern fighting games.
The ability to go online at all is widely novel for many of these titles, and the fact that we’ll be doing so utilizing rollback netcode is a major plus right out of the gate. It’s surely been a struggle, but Capcom and other fighting game developers have fine-tuned the online rollback experience to a point where a reasonably lag-less experience is possible even across international lines.
Some of the titles, such as Marvel vs. Capcom 2, included training modes in previous home releases, but the art of designing said mode has very much been refined in recent times.
We know that players will be able to view hit and hurtboxes while practicing, though we’re still not sure if the collection will include frame data for expedited analysis.
We also recently reported on the handful of quality of life changes and previously hidden characters that will be featured in each of the collection’s six fighting titles.
Boss and enhanced versions of certain characters will be accessible through a particular menu, meaning you won’t have to scour the internet for secret codes or win conditions.
You can see all of the available details over on the MvCFC website, which is also where we caught site of the bad news about crossplay:
Let us know in the comments how hype you are for the coming collection and which game you’ll be digging into first once it hits shelves later this year.
