Soludo's education policy target children of poorest of the poor - Anambra lawmaker

Member representing Aguata one Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Anayo Okpalaeke, has said governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s education policy in the state targeted squarely on children of poorest of the poor.

He said the governor’s vision in Anambra education sector is to ensure that the children of the poor and the rich attained at least the same level of basic education in the state.

Okpalaeke, stated this during the official flags off of the distribution of teaching learning materials (TLMs), to Primary and Junior Secondary Schools in Anambra State, held at ASUBEB premises in Awka on Monday.

He said the gesture serves as an incentive to the schools to enhance teaching and learning.

He highlighted the imperatives of education as key to the development of every nation.

According to Okpalaeke, who is also the chairman house committee on education at the state assembly, the passion to distribute the materials cannot be overemphasized in a fast growing global space.

He reiterated the determination of the Soludo’s administration to leverage on the gains of education to equip both government and mission basic schools in Anambra State.

The lawmaker noted with delight the education friendliness of the Soludo’s administration and urged the benefitting schools to utilize the materials well.

In his brief remark, the South East Zonal Acting Director, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Mr Isaac Isaac, urged Anambra residents irrespective of tribe, ethnic and religion affiliations to give their unalloyed support to the governor to deliver on his campaign promises.

In her address, the Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Vera Nwadinobi urged the benefitting schools to ensure full utilization of the distributed materials to enhance teaching and learning.

According to her, the event represents far more than the distribution of books and instructional materials, it symbolizes our unwavering commitment to strengthening the very foundation of basic education and ensuring that every Anambra child has access to the tools necessary for academic excellence and lifelong success.

The distributed materials will empower teachers to deliver effectively and enable pupils to learn confidently.

The distribution includes, 127,776 English and mathematics textbooks, 44,100 exercise books and writing materials, 3,675 pairs of sandals and 3,675 school bags for pupils and students across the state.

The materials are designed to enhance teaching and learning, reduce barriers to school attendance and boost classroom engagement for both learners and teachers.

Dr.Nwadinobi, while the beneficiary teachers and students to use the items diligently, commended Governor Soludo for his impactful educational policies which have given prominence to the education sector.

She assured the benefitting schools of government’s continued support of their activities.

She also commented the Executive Secretary, UBEC Abuja, Aisha Garba, represented by UBEC Anambra State coordinator, Mr Kingsley Nlewedim for her dynamic leadership and steadfast commitment to advancing and transforming basic education across Nigeria.

The event was organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission Abuja in conjunction with the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board.
