The Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Council, Hon. Yibala Inyang, has successfully concluded his Christmas/New Year tour and stakeholders’ engagement across all council wards in Yakurr, during which he distributed a total sum of N10 million alongside bags of rice to constituents, as part of efforts to spread goodwill and support families during the festive season. The Chairman also presented special Christmas gifts to the Chiefs of Yakurr autonomous communities in appreciation of their leadership and support for peace and development at the grassroots.
The tour covered the council wards of Assiga, Inyima, Nkpolo, Abanamkpai, Mkpani, Epenti, Ajere, Ntan, Idomi, Ijiman, Ijom, Ikpakapit, and Biko-Biko, with a separate visit to Agoi. Throughout the engagements, the Chairman interacted directly with community members and critical stakeholders, providing an opportunity for the people to give firsthand feedback on completed projects and areas where government intervention is most needed.
Speaking during the tour, Hon. Yibala Inyang explained that the essence of the visits was to strengthen grassroots governance through direct consultation, noting that the interactions were enriching and reaffirmed his administration’s people-centered approach. He expressed satisfaction with the level of engagement and appreciation shown by constituents across all wards.

The Chairman also appreciated the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, whom he described as the propelling force behind the innovations being experienced across the state, even at the grassroots level. He stated that the successes recorded at the local government level are strongly supported by the Governor’s people-focused leadership, and noted that he moved from ward to ward delivering the goodwill message of His Excellency to the people of Yakurr.
Hon. Yibala Inyang further assured the people of Mkpani/Agoi that despite being politically grouped under a council ward, deliberate steps will be taken to ensure Agoi benefits fully as a council ward, in order to enhance government presence and inclusive development in the area.
He added that all feedback received during the tour has been carefully documented and reassured the people of Yakurr that his administration will continue to address priority needs within the limits of available resources, in line with his pledge to deliver equitable and impactful governance across the local government area.
