United Nigeria Airlines Boss Leads Inauguration of Awka Country Club In Anambra

Professor Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, on Saturday led the formal inauguration of the Awka Country Club, marking a significant milestone in community-driven development initiatives within the Awka metropolis.

In the Chairman’s remark, Prof. Okonkwo expressed strong optimism about the formation of the club, describing it as both timely and impactful. He emphasized the importance of collective civic action, noting that community development should not be viewed as the exclusive responsibility of government.

“It has been a long-standing dream to see this kind of structured civic engagement in Anambra State, similar to what exists in Lagos and Abuja,” Prof. Okonkwo said. “It is encouraging that the people of Awka, under the platform of the Awka Country Club, have come together to uplift their community through human capital development, empowerment and community service.”

The high point of the ceremony was the formal investiture of Chief Ralph Nwosu, National Leader of the African Democratic Party (ADC), and Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, as patrons of the Awka Country Club. The honours were conferred by Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, OFR and Justice Vin. Agbata.

In their seperate speeches, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, and Chief Ralph Nwosu expressed appreciation for the recognition and investiture, describing Prof. Obiora Okonkwo as a unifier, a man of proven integrity and national hero.

In recognition of his contribution, the Awka Country Club (ACC) also presented Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, OFR, with an award of appreciation for serving as the club’s inaugural Chairman of the Occasion.
