In an effort to show love during the yuletide, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has distributed food items such rice, vegetable oil and other consumables to stakeholders in Cross River.

The state NDDC Representative, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke PhD, who personally supervised the distribution exercise between Tuesday December 23 and Wednesday December 24, 2025, declared that the distribution is not an isolated event but a consistent effort to prioritize the welfare of the stakeholders. He noted that NDDC is committed to transparency, breaking away from past practices where such gestures were often shrouded in secrecy.

“This is the continuation of the Christmas outreach by the Commission initiated in December,” Duke stated. “As an interventionist agency, the NDDC prioritizes the welfare of the people. That is why the Commission is churning out programs that were hitherto done in utmost secrecy, to the benefit of all.”

He further explained that the largess aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, which seeks to provide immediate relief to the Niger Delta region.

A significant portion of the items, was allocated to security agencies in the state. While visiting various security formations, the NDDC Representative highlighted the need for sustained synergy between the Commission and the armed forces to maintain the peace required for regional development.

Duke praised the security agencies for their “concerted efforts in safeguarding the Niger Delta region,” noting that their vigilance provides the stability necessary for the Commission’s projects to thrive.
