The Cross River State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially expelled its former State Chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, citing a direct violation of the party’s constitutional provisions regarding legal disputes.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the State Caretaker Committee held at the Party Secretariat on Monday, December 22, 2025.
The committee, presided over by Ntufam Ekum Ekok Ojogu, invoked Article 21.5(v) of the APC Constitution (as amended) to ratify Eba’s removal.

According to a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Hon. Emmanuel Edem Inyang JP, the former chairman lost his membership the moment he took the party to court without exploring internal resolution channels.
Inyang stated that the cited constitutional provision mandates that any member who institutes legal action against the party or its officers over party duties “shall automatically stand expelled upon the filing of such action.”
The motion for expulsion was moved by Dr. Abubakar Efoli, Vice Chairman for the Central Senatorial District, and seconded by Dr. Joseph Idagu Ogar, the Northern Youth Leader. The committee clarified that, per party rules, “No appeal against such expulsion shall be entertained until the member withdraws the action from court.”
Similarly, the Caretaker Committee also addressed disciplinary issues involving Dr. Juliet Ebuo Diwa, the State Special Leader.
Following a formal report from the Boki Chapter Chairman, Engr. Kelvin Njong JP, the committee upheld Dr. Diwa’s suspension over allegations of gross misconduct at the ward level. Specifically, she is accused of an assault that caused physical harm to the Ward Chairman, Mr. James Abang.
The committee noted that her suspension remains in effect “pending the outcome and recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee.”
The leadership reaffirmed its stance on maintaining order within the ranks, emphasizing that the party will not tolerate actions that undermine its legal framework or the safety of its officials.
“The Committee reiterates its commitment to party discipline, internal democracy, and strict adherence to the provisions of the APC Constitution,” the statement concluded.
