The Cross River State Special Advisers Forum has congratulated Governor Bassey Edet Otu (represented at the event by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey) and the Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, on the honours recently conferred on them by the Okoyong Traditional Council.
In a congratulatory message signed by its Secretary, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, the Forum described the recognition as a fitting acknowledgment of Governor Otu’s people-centred leadership, peace-driven development agenda and inclusive governance philosophy.
“The honour bestowed on His Excellency, Governor Bassey Otu, by the Okoyong Traditional Council is a testament to his commitment to grassroots development, unity and the deliberate inclusion of communities in governance,” the Forum stated.
The Forum also praised the conferment of the Anta Dunuo chieftaincy title on Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, noting that the recognition reflects his dedication, loyalty and effective service under the Otu administration.
According to the Forum, the traditional honour is not only a mark of appreciation but also a call to greater responsibility in advancing the administration’s People First agenda across the state.
“The recognition of our colleague, Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba, affirms that diligence and selfless service to the people do not go unnoticed,” the statement added.
The Special Advisers Forum reaffirmed its continued support for Governor Otu’s vision and pledged sustained commitment to policies and programmes aimed at promoting peace, unity and sustainable development in Cross River State.
The Forum further congratulated the Okoyong Traditional Council for upholding the culture of honouring excellence and service, describing the civic recognition as an encouragement to public office holders to remain focused on delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
The event was attended by high profile government officials, notably, the Chairman of Cross River House of Representatives caucus, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba; members of the House of Assembly, Directors General and Chairmen of Boards and Agencies, with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, leading the delegation of Special Advisers Forum to the colourful event.
