Gov Otu visits Chief of Air Staff, seeks stronger security partnerships

Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has visited the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday December 8, 2025, where he passionately sought to reinforce existing security cooperation.

The visit underscored a mutual commitment between the State Government and the NAF to enhance peace and security across the State and the nation.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Otu commended the high degree of professionalism exhibited by the Nigerian Air Force personnel and unequivocally reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to expanding its partnership with the Service. The Governor stressed that strengthening collaboration with the NAF is not just beneficial, but essential for maintaining stability and enabling widespread development in Cross River.

He highlighted the core vision of his administration, stating that the State “will continue to work closely with the Nigerian Air Force to enhance security and create an environment where our people and the economy can thrive.” His remarks emphasized the State Government’s recognition of the NAF’s vital role in ensuring a secure foundation for economic growth and social progress.

Earlier, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Aneke, welcomed the Governor, noting that the visit “reaffirms the strong relationship between the Nigerian Air Force and the Government of Cross River State.” He acknowledged the State’s significance as a partner, citing the operational presence of NAF units in Calabar and its environs.

Air Marshal Aneke assured the Governor of the NAF’s dedication to providing continued support in internal security operations, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, and the protection of critical infrastructure. He reiterated the NAF’s commitment to providing airpower in support of national defence.

The meeting concluded with both leaders agreeing that sustained synergy and partnership between the Cross River State Government and the Nigerian Air Force remain critical to advancing collective security goals and overall national development.
